  • Corrosion around the battery terminals

What’s included

  • Terminal and cable inspection and cleaning
  • Correct battery type for your vehicle (including AGM and start-stop)
  • Battery registration on vehicles that require it
  • Proper recycling of your old battery

More than just swapping a battery

A dead battery is sometimes just an old battery, and sometimes a symptom of something else: a failing alternator, a corroded cable, or a module that drains power after the car is off. Replacing the battery without checking costs you a second trip.

That’s why we test the battery, starter and alternator first, and look for parasitic drains if a newer battery keeps going flat. Then we explain what we found and what it takes to fix it.

The right battery for your car

Batteries aren’t one-size-fits-all. We match your vehicle’s specifications for size, cold-cranking amps and technology. Many newer cars need AGM batteries for their start-stop systems, and some require the new battery to be registered with the car’s computer so the charging system treats it correctly.

Don’t wait for the no-start

Batteries rarely die without warning. If your car is cranking slower than usual or the battery is more than three years old, ask us to test it at your next oil change. It takes a few minutes and can save you a tow.

“They treat you as family.”

Camacho’s is by far the best auto shop I have been to in NC. Customer service is impeccable! I have had one too many last minute instances and they have always squeezed me in… They do not see you as a quick buck and will always give you choices from the most economical and priority to everything needed for your car overall. Top tier, they treat you as family.

“They did not try to sell me anything extra that I didn't need.”

HIGHLY recommend!! … I arrived at 8:40 am and my oil change was complete and I was on my way by 9:10 am. Very professional staff and fair prices… they did not try to sell me anything extra that I didn't need. This is now my go-to spot for any car repair needs.

“Really great service and friendly people.”

Carlos was so attentive right upon me pulling up as I was so confused what was wrong with my car and they got me in promptly and fixed my issue right away! This was not my first time as I previously had my brakes repaired here and the service was also amazing… Really great service and friendly people.

Battery Replacement questions

How long does a car battery last?

Typically 3–5 years. North Carolina heat is actually harder on batteries than cold, so many fail in summer even though you notice them on the first cold morning.

Is it my battery or my alternator?

If the car starts with a jump and then dies again later, it could be either. A battery test and charging-system test tells us which in a few minutes, so you don't replace a good battery.

Why does my newer car need a special battery?

Many newer vehicles with start-stop systems use AGM or EFB batteries, and some need the new battery registered to the car's computer so it charges correctly. We handle both.
