The best $119 you’ll spend on a used car
We’re big believers in this one. Too often we meet someone a week after they bought a used car, and it needs brakes, tires and a leaking water pump that nobody mentioned. A pre-purchase inspection turns those surprises into known costs before you buy, which you can use to negotiate, or to walk away.
Thorough, down to the last switch
Most inspections stop at the engine and brakes. Ours keeps going, because a car that “runs fine” can still have a lot of small, expensive annoyances.
Mechanical: a road test, then a full 40-point inspection on the lift. We check the engine, transmission, brakes, tires, suspension, steering, exhaust, leaks, frame and underbody rust, and signs of past accident repair. We scan every computer module for trouble codes, including ones that may have been recently cleared.
Features: we check as many of the easily overlooked things as we can:
- Every window, lock and power mirror
- Every speaker, the infotainment screen and backup camera
- The sunroof opening, closing and sealing smoothly
- A/C blowing cold and heat blowing hot, in every direction and mode
- Seat adjustments, heated seats, wipers, lights and more
An honest opinion with no stake in the sale
We’re not selling the car, and we don’t gain anything if you buy it. You’ll get a digital report with photos, every finding sorted by urgency with an estimated cost, and our honest take. That way you can make the decision with real peace of mind.

“They treat you as family.”
Camacho’s is by far the best auto shop I have been to in NC. Customer service is impeccable! I have had one too many last minute instances and they have always squeezed me in… They do not see you as a quick buck and will always give you choices from the most economical and priority to everything needed for your car overall. Top tier, they treat you as family.
“They did not try to sell me anything extra that I didn't need.”
HIGHLY recommend!! … I arrived at 8:40 am and my oil change was complete and I was on my way by 9:10 am. Very professional staff and fair prices… they did not try to sell me anything extra that I didn't need. This is now my go-to spot for any car repair needs.
“Really great service and friendly people.”
Carlos was so attentive right upon me pulling up as I was so confused what was wrong with my car and they got me in promptly and fixed my issue right away! This was not my first time as I previously had my brakes repaired here and the service was also amazing… Really great service and friendly people.
Pre-Purchase Inspection questions
How much is a pre-purchase inspection?
$119. That includes the road test, the full 40-point inspection, the feature check and a digital report with photos.
How long does it take?
Plan on about an hour to an hour and a half. Booking ahead means we’ll have the time ready for you or the seller.
Can the seller drop the car off?
Yes. We’ll send the report and photos to you, the buyer, and we’re happy to walk you through it by phone.
Will you tell me if I should buy it?
We’ll tell you exactly what we found, what it will cost to fix, and what we’d do in your shoes. The decision is yours, but you won’t be guessing.
What if the seller won’t allow an inspection?
Most reputable sellers will. If one refuses an independent inspection, that tells you something too.
