Timing belt replacement in Cary, NC
A timing belt gives little warning before it fails, and on many engines a broken belt means major engine damage. We'll tell you exactly when yours is due and replace it right.

Signs it’s time
- You're at or near the manufacturer's replacement mileage
- The belt is 7–10 years old, regardless of mileage
- Ticking or slapping noise from the front of the engine
- Oil or coolant leaking near the timing cover
- You bought a used car and don't know if it's been done
What’s included
- Timing belt replacement
- Tensioner and idler pulleys
- Water pump replacement where it's driven by the belt
- Seal inspection (cam and crank seals replaced if leaking)
- Accessory belt inspection
- Coolant refill and road test
Why the timing belt matters
The timing belt keeps your engine’s crankshaft and camshafts turning in perfect sync, so the valves open and close at exactly the right moment. On many engines, called interference engines, a broken belt lets pistons hit the valves, causing major internal damage that can cost far more than the belt service.
Unlike most wear items, timing belts rarely give clear warning signs before they fail. That’s why replacing them on schedule is so important.
Doing it once, doing it right
Most of the cost of a timing belt job is the labor to get to it. While we’re in there, we replace the parts that wear alongside the belt, like the tensioner and idler pulleys, and the water pump on engines where the belt drives it. That way you won’t pay for the same labor twice if one of them fails a year later.
Not sure if yours is due?
Tell us your vehicle and mileage when you book, or ask at your next oil change. We’ll look up the manufacturer’s interval and check service records if you have them. If you bought the car used and don’t know its history, we’ll help you decide whether it’s worth doing now.

“They did not try to sell me anything extra that I didn't need.”
HIGHLY recommend!! … I arrived at 8:40 am and my oil change was complete and I was on my way by 9:10 am. Very professional staff and fair prices… they did not try to sell me anything extra that I didn't need. This is now my go-to spot for any car repair needs.
“Really great service and friendly people.”
Carlos was so attentive right upon me pulling up as I was so confused what was wrong with my car and they got me in promptly and fixed my issue right away! This was not my first time as I previously had my brakes repaired here and the service was also amazing… Really great service and friendly people.
Timing Belt Replacement questions
How do I know if my car has a timing belt or chain?
Your owner's manual will say, or just ask us with your year, make and model. Many newer engines use chains, but plenty of popular vehicles, including many Honda and Acura V6s, still use belts.
When should a timing belt be replaced?
Most manufacturers specify somewhere between 60,000 and 105,000 miles, or a time limit like 7 years. Rubber ages even if you don't drive much, so the time limit matters too.
Why replace the water pump at the same time?
On many engines the timing belt drives the water pump, and most of the labor is the same. Replacing both together saves you paying for that labor twice if the pump fails later.
